Air India Singapore Airlines Codeshare: What Changes on 15 October 2026

The air india singapore airlines codeshare gets its biggest upgrade yet on 15 October 2026: from that date, you can book an Air India-operated India–Singapore flight on Singapore Airlines' website — or an SIA-operated flight on Air India's website — without having to include a flight by the selling airline. The change covers 126 weekly flights between Singapore and 8 Indian cities, and it removes a booking restriction that has frustrated travellers for years.

What Exactly Is Changing

Until now, the rule was: an Air India-operated codeshare flight sold through Singapore Airlines had to be bundled with at least one SIA-operated flight, and vice versa. You could not simply open the SIA site and buy a standalone Air India Mumbai–Singapore ticket. From 15 October, that pairing requirement is gone — eligible flights operated by either airline can be bought standalone through the other's website, mobile app or appointed travel agencies. This is the first visible result of the Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement the two Star Alliance partners signed in January 2026, announced officially by Air India.

The 8 Cities and 126 Weekly Flights Covered

The arrangement covers India–Singapore services from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai. Note what it does not do: it adds no new flights and changes no schedules — it purely widens how you can buy the existing seats. As Business Traveller notes, fares and ticket conditions may still differ between the two airlines' channels for the same physical flight, so compare both before paying.

What It Means for Your Singapore Trip

  • More choice of platform: prefer SIA's app but want Air India's departure time (or fare)? Now you can mix freely.
  • Compare both channels: the same seat can be priced differently on airindia.com vs singaporeair.com — check both, plus your travel agent.
  • Frequent flyers: since April 2026, Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer members earn miles on more fare types across both airlines; from Q2 2027, top-tier members get priority check-in/boarding and Silver members get extra baggage on eligible routes.
  • Corporate travellers: more itinerary combinations for India–Singapore business trips, with single-ticket convenience.

Singapore Trip Planning: Visa + Cost

Indian passport holders need a Singapore e-visa (apply 5–7 working days ahead; roughly ₹2,500–₹4,000 through agents). A 4-night Singapore trip costs approximately ₹55,000–₹70,000 per person — our Singapore trip cost guide breaks it down day-wise.

Air India–Singapore Airlines Codeshare — FAQs

What is changing in the Air India Singapore Airlines partnership on 15 October 2026?

The codeshare pairing rule is removed: eligible India–Singapore flights operated by either airline can be booked standalone through the other airline's website, app or travel agencies, without bundling a flight operated by the selling carrier. It covers 126 weekly flights across 8 Indian cities.

Can I book a Singapore Airlines flight on Air India's website?

Yes — from 15 October 2026, eligible SIA-operated India–Singapore flights can be booked standalone on Air India's channels, and Air India-operated flights on SIA's channels. Compare fares on both, as pricing may differ.

Do Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer members get new benefits?

Mileage accrual was already enhanced in April 2026 across more fare types. From the second quarter of 2027, reciprocal perks deepen: top-tier members get priority check-in/boarding, Silver members get extra baggage and priority boarding on eligible routes.

Does this add new India–Singapore flights?

No — the change affects booking flexibility only, not schedules or capacity. For genuinely new capacity, watch Air India Express's Chennai–Singapore 14x weekly launch from 25 October.
